Inguinal Lymph Nodes
Superficial Inguinal Lymph Nodes form a chain beneath the Inguinal Ligament (Band running from Pubic Tubercle to the Anterior Superior Iliac Spine). They lie deep to the Camper’s Fascia (layer of Anterior Abdominal Wall) overlaying the Femoral Vessels (arteries in thigh) at the medial side of thigh. They are found in the superior border of Inguinal Ligament, lateral border of Sartorius Muscle (thin muscle running down the length of thigh) and medial border of Adductor Longus (skeletal muscle located in thigh). There are at least ten Superficial Inguinal Lymph nodes which drain into Deep Inguinal Lymph Nodes. They receive afferent lymphatic vessels from the following. Integument of the Penis Perineum Buttock Abdominal Wall Vulva Thigh and medial side of leg
Deep Inguinal Lymph Nodes are situated at the medial side of the Femoral Vein under the Cribriform Fascia. They are 3 to 5 in numbers. The superior node of it is present under the Inguinal Ligament and known as Cloquet’s Node. They drain into the External Iliac Lymph Nodes onto the Paraaortic Lymph Nodes.
Swollen Inguinal Lymph Nodes refer to an infection like Orchitis (inflammation of Testes) in lower regions. This infection also spreads from Anal Cancer and Vulvar Cancer.
