ANATOMY
The body of stomach shares boundaries with three other regions i.e.
Along with these three regions it makes up the Stomach. The boundary of Body and Fundus is defined by a Horizontal line running through Cardiac Notch (right margin of Oesophagus). For defining the boundary between the Body and Pylorus; an imaginary perpendicular line from Angular Incisure (Angular Notch) to Lesser Curvature of Stomach is made.
Like the Cardiac Notch, Angular Incisure and entire stomach states varies from person to person and these boundaries don’t have any fixed position either.
FUNCTION
Its function is to store, mix and digest food that we eat. It also protects us from infectious organisms that we may have eaten. Stomach secretes acid and enzymes which help in breaking down food into smaller particles especially proteins.
