Fundus of the Stomach
BLOOD SUPPLY
Fundus receives its blood supply from Short and Posterior Gastric Vessels.
LYMPHATIC SUPPLY
Lymph from fundus drains along short gastric vessels into Gastric lymph nodes and Pancreaticosplenic lymph nodes.
NERVE SUPPLY
1. Sympathetic nerve supply of the fundus of stomach is derived from T6-T9 segments in spinal cord. It forms Celiac Plexus through greater splanchnic nerve. Celiac plexus supplies fundus of stomach along short and posterior gastric vessels.
2. Parasympathetic nerve supply of the Fundus is derived from Anterior and Posterior vagal trunks that are derived from Left and Right Vagus nerves respectively.
CLINICAL IMPORTANCE
Fundus accumulates gases formed in stomach as a result of digestion. It also stores undigested food for about an hour.
