STRUCTURE AND POSITION
- Grey Matter is different from white matter in sense of lesser number of myelinated Axons, and having Cell Bodies of Neurons.
- Grey Matter gets its color due to presence of Cell Bodies. Capillaries slight red to pink colour.
- Grey Matter is present on the surface of brain and in the central portion of spinal cord.
- Grey Matter grows throughout childhood and adolescence.
FUNCTION
- Grey Matter is major portion of CNS and receives 95 percent of the oxygen supply of brain.
- Grey Matter is involved in most of the nervous system functions. It is involved in perception of Sight, Hearing, Touch, Temperature, Pain etc.
- Muscle control and decision making is done in this part of brain.
