LIGAMENTS

Lunate bone depends on ligaments for stability. It is attached by a Medial ligament to scaphoid, lateral ligament to triquetrum. There are also ligaments linking Lunate with radius and other carpal bones.

BLOOD SUPPLY

The blood supply to lunate is provided by the branches of radial artery.

FUNCTION

Along with other carpal bone, Lunate bone provides structure to the wrist and allows greater range of movements.

INJURIES

Lunate bone is one of the most common bones to dislocate among carpal bones.

The disease associated with this bone is called Kienbock’s Disease.
