Manubrium
It is Quadrangular in shape, wide superiorly and narrow inferiorly. It joins with the clavicles and cartilages of the first pair of ribs. Manubrium has three borders that are as follows. Superior Border: It is the thickest border with its center presenting a Jugular or Pre Sternal Notch. Both of its sides have Oval Articular Surface for making a joint with Sternal end of Clavicle. Inferior Border: This is the oval and rough border covered with a layer of cartilage for articulation. Lateral Border: It is marked by a depression for Costal Cartilage with a small facet below and a similar facet above. The main function of Manubrium is to form a joint with Clavicles and two ribs.
