Middle Nasal Concha
STRUCTURE AND POSITION
- Middle Nasal Concha is a curved margin of the medial side of the Ethmoid Bone’s Labyrinth.
- It is directed downwards and medially from the Cribriform Plate and has a free terminal portion inside Nasal Cavity.
- Each Middle Nasal Concha is a rough bony structure with small grooves superiorly. It is covered by mucous membrane of the Nasal Cavity.
FUNCTION
- Middle Nasal Concha functions to trap dust particles and foreign objects and prevents them from going inside the Lungs via respiration.
- It also has supply from the Olfactory Nerves through Cribriform Plate. They help in detection of smell.
