Ovarian Ligament
STRUCTURE AND LOCATION
- Ovarian Ligament is made up of Fibrous as well as Muscular tissue which is in form of a thick connecting band.
- Ovarian Ligament connects medial side of the Ovaries to the lateral side of Uterus at the point where Fallopian Tube (egg transferring tube) meets Uterus known as Superior Angle of Uterus. It is present on both sides.
- Ovarian Ligament runs in fibrous Broad Ligament of Uterus, which is itself part of peritoneum not a true ligament.
- Ovarian Ligament is situated in Parametrium (potion at lateral sides of uterus).
BLOOD SUPPLY AND LYMPHATICS
- Blood to Ovarian Ligament is supplied by right and left Ovarian arteries (branches of Descending Aorta).
- Blood is drained by right and left Ovarian Veins which pour blood into Inferior Vena Cava and left Renal Vein , respectively.
- Lymph of Ovarian Ligament is drained via Lateral Aortic Lymph nodes and also Iliac Lymph nodes.
