Pectineus Muscle
- Pectineus Muscle is a flat muscle and quadrangular in shape.
- It is located most anteriorly in the Medial Group of Thigh Muscles.
ATTACHMENTS :
Pectineus Muscle has an origin and an insertion like rest of the muscles of the Body.
- Origin : Pectineus Muscle arises from the Pectineal Line over the Pubis. Some of its part arises from the bony surface in front of the Pectineal Line, and also from the Fascia covering it.
- Insertion : Pectineus Muscle runs obliquely, laterally and downwards. It gets inserted into the Pectineal Line of the Femur at its medial surface.
BLOOD SUPPLY :
Pectineus Muscle gets its blood supply from Obturator Artery. It also receives its blood from branches of the Femoral Artery.
NERVE SUPPLY :
Pectineus Muscle is innervated by the Femoral Nerve. Sometimes Accessory Obturator Nerve is also present.
ACTION :
Pectineus Muscle flexes the Hip Joint. Pectineus Muscle also adducts and medially rotates the thigh.
