STRUCTURE AND POSITION 

•        Origin : Semitendinosus Muscle has a common origin with the Biceps Femoris via Tendon. It arises from the medial aspect of the Superior Part of the Ischial Tuberosity.
•        It runs downwards alongside other Hamstring Muscles.
•        Insertion : Semitendinosus Muscle gets inserted into the Medial Shaft of the Tibia just below the Medial Condyle.

BLOOD SUPPLY 

Semitendinosus Muscle is supplied by the Inferior Gluteal, Deep Femoral, and Popliteal Arteries.

NERVE SUPPLY 

Semitendinosus Muscle is innervated by the Tibial Nerve.

ACTION 

•         Semitendinosus Muscle extends the Hip Joint.
•         It also flexes the Knee joint.
•         Semitendinosus Muscle medially rotates the knee if its in semiflexed position.
