Tibia Posterior

Tibia provides attachment to muscles of the lower leg and supports knee and ankle to help in standing and walking. Tibia is the second largest bone of the leg and it provides strength to a person to stand. It bears all the weight of body. Any deformity in it leads to loss of balance and weakness of legs occur.

There are four joints formed by the tibia called the tibiofemoral components of the knee joint, the talocrural joint (ankle), the superior and inferior tibiofibular joints. This completes the list of the four joints formed by the tibia.
