Brachialis Muscle
Brachialis is fusiform and flattened in shape, narrow on ends with bulk in the centre.
It originates from anterior surface of distal half part of humerus and gets inserted to the coronoid process and tuberosity of ulna.
The blood source that nourishes brachialis muscle is the muscular branches of the brachial artery and recurrent radial artery.
Brachialis gets its nerve supply mainly from musculocutaneous nerve (C5, C6), and radial nerve (C5, C7) arising from brachial plexus.
The function of brachialis is to flex the forearm and it is the strongest flexor muscle of the forearm that causes maximum amount of flexion of forearm. In addition to causing flexion, it also plays role in maintaining the flexed state of forearm.
