First Polar Body
A polar body is formed during the formation of female reproductive cell/gamete called egg. When the process of meiosis, that is special cell division, takes place the reproductive cells (eggs in female and sperms in male) are formed. It takes place in two steps. In females, at step one, a single germ cell is divided into two daughter cells. This is an asymmetrical cell division in which one cell gets big quantity of cytoplasm. It is future egg cell. The other cell contains only a little of cytoplasm and is quite smaller than the future egg cell. However, the genetic material is equally divided into two halves and both cells contain equal but half (as compared to normal cell) number of chromosomes. Later, the polar bodies are degenerated by themselves.
