Tibialis Anterior Muscle
Tibialis anterior is the most medial muscle of anterior compartment of leg that is present superficially against the lateral side of tibia. It has a long tendon that begins in the mid of leg and descends down along the anterior surface of tibia entering the superior and inferior extensor retinaculum. It also crosses the subtalar and tarsal joints to reach the medial border of the foot.

Tibialis Anterior Muscle
It is a long muscle.
The tibialis anterior originates from upper half of lateral side, lateral condyle of tibia and the interosseous membrane and ends by inserting into the base of first metatarsal and inferior and medial surfaces of medial cuneiform.
Tibialis anterior is supplied by the anterior tibial artery, a branch of the popliteal artery.
The innervations to tibialis anterior is supplied by deep fibular nerve (L4, L5), which is a branch of common fibular nerve.
The main functions of tibialis anterior are dorsiflexion of ankle and inversion of the foot.
The person is directed to stand on heels and its tendon can be palpated and observed if it is normal.
